Burning the ISO went w/o a hitch.
Trialing on a gateway laptop that has 1 gig of ram.
It stalled at auto log-in once out of three boot ups.
I'm unable to add printers from HP, either the HP deskjet 4160 or 5440.
Tried to add the deskjet series but it still won't print.

Well, I tried using another HP brand..I think it was an HP deskjet 5550 and it is working on my HP deskjet 5440 printer.

Well, I tried using another HP brand..I think it was an HP deskjet 5550 and it is working on my HP deskjet 5440 printer. Sorry for the quirks there ... HP has a number of printers that require firmware downloads to them in order to run. Many of those are not available anymore. Same with a few other vendors who have gone the "Winprinter" route where Windows does the actual work and the printer is merely a profit center for refills. The code maintainers for the printer drivers are promising to add a ****load of new definitions with the upcoming 8.1 BSD, so we should be seeing a lot more fully compatible and listed in CUPS by the end of the summer so I'm told.

Thanks for the info Kevin. I'll keep my eyes open for any added printers. I'm trialing on a dell desktop now which is the pc that has the HP 5440 on it. So, all is well for printing using the 5550.
