I have an older DVD player in my pc (my old dvd drive died so I swapped it out with a 1999 Hitachi). I had to use a DVD +RW disc so the older player can see the format. Is it ok to use a RW disc? Is it possible for virus' to write to a RW versus a R disc?

Is it possible for virus' to write to a RW versus a R disc? Won't be a problem at ALL with KNOS, and in fact since we're going through replacements every couple of months during beta testing, that's one SMART move using an RW ... you won't be wasting a puck with that philosophy! KNOS can be run off a USB stick FWIW using our same design of "read only on steroids" but it's a messy process right now. We're working to make it saner and one of our folks here has been having a helluva time with his own attempts at it. So since it's possible to use a writable media for KNOS, doing it on an RW puck won't be a problem either. Neither YOU nor anyone else will be able to write to it when KNOS has it mounted. At this point with the way we've done the security on KNOS, I'm looking at a distant possibility of even being able to install this on a hard disk some day in our lifetimes. But anyone who knows me can assure you that I'm more paranoid than you'll EVER be. (grin)

Oh! I am REALLY liking the idea of having KNOS installed on my home drives AND having it on a couple of sticks to take with me ( maybe one for light-weight browsing and email, and one dedicated for on-line banking etc. .).

Thanks Kevin. I think Nancy and yourself got something really cool going on here. I will keep the dvd-rw spinning.
