[on Lenovo KNOS32 hard-drive install]
Part of the KNOS boot-up dialog that I've been meaning to ask you about, has a line that says, in part:
country US authmode OPEN privacy OFF
What is " authmode OPEN privacy OFF " ? Are there options or choices that we can/should make?

That is an attempt to communicate with the wifi card in your system. In order to communicate with it, it is first started in US mode, unencrypted. When the wifi mode is "open" (such as public wifi) there is no WPA, WEP or other encryption. This is the default mode when scanning for wifi connections. In your case, the radio failed to work and so the scan ended at that first part and thus, no more data occurred. But that was the attempt to talk to your wifi there.
